Bespoke Design and Model Making Service
As part of our bespoke service, the process will typically begin with conversations, rough sketching, gemstone and diamond viewing etc to narrow down your design. These initial conversations and sketches are complimentary and completely free of any obligation to proceed with the bespoke process if it is not meeting your requirements.
As we arrive at a design concept which you are happy with, we will then move on to more accurate design drawings or models of this concept. This design work and/or model making service has an initial charge of £100 that is later deducted from the total price of the order.
After seeing your design realised in an accurate design drawing, CAD render or 3D model; you can request small alternations to the design to get it just right at no extra charge. If you decide this isn’t the right direction for you and would like to explore a new design concept, you will need to pay an additional £100 charge for the new design concept drawings and/or models.
This charge is for the service we will provide of designing and/or model-making and is not for ownership of the hand drawn or computer generated designs and/or models. These remain the intellectual and physical property of Orme-Brown and are not permitted to be produced by any other parties.
Bespoke Production, Deposits & Payment
During the bespoke process, once a design is agreed Orme-Brown will request a 50% deposit to begin production. This deposit is provided on a non-refundable basis. If the customer cancels the order after production has begun they can request a refund of their deposit and any refunds or partial refunds will be given at the discretion of Orme-Brown but they are under no obligation to do so.
The likelihood of a refunded or partially refunded deposit will be dependent on the stage of production that has been reached, the costs that have already been incurred by Orme-Brown and the distinctiveness of the design and it’s ability to be absorbed into Orme-Brown’s current collections if production is near complete or complete.
When a bespoke piece is completed the remaining 50% balance payment will be due before the piece can be available for collection or shipping.
Please allow around 2 weeks for the design process and a minimum of 6 weeks for the production of your piece. If your commission requires the sourcing of unusual diamonds or gemstones, the sourcing of these may add some additional time to the process.
Our Recycled Diamonds & Gemstones
In our mission for sustainability we source recycled diamonds and gemstones as part of our selection of sustainable materials. These stones have typically had a previous life in another piece of jewellery. As a result they may show signs of wear and tear such as small chips or a lack of sharpness on facet lines. We will not offer stones that we believe have considerable signs of wear and tear and where they exist we will disclose them fully in the descriptions of the piece.
Using Your Own Precious Metals, Diamonds and Gemstones
We would be delighted and privileged to make new jewellery from your heirloom pieces. This option truly ‘closes the loop’ and gives you peace of mind in the sustainability of your choice.
As you provide these materials to us we can not guarantee the viability of them when it comes to reworking them. It is our policy to have your materials (unhallmarked metals and all stones) conclusively identified by a third party before considering using them to make a new piece. We can not be held responsible for any damage that occurs to your materials during the disassembly and reworking of them.
Ongoing Care
All fine jewellery requires care and attention to avoid damage and remain looking it’s best. Orme-Brown will provide care instructions but it is the responsibility of the customer to care for their piece as advised.
Cleaning and refinishing services are generally complimentary. Alternations, resizes and repairs are chargeable services quoted on an individual basis.
